It has been over a decade since Sachin Tendulkar retired from international cricket but he still gives his everything on the field. In the International Masters League T20 2025 opening encounter, Indian Masters captain Tendulkar and Ambati Rayudu were involved in a mild collision in an attempt to take the catch of Sri Lanka Masters batter Ashan Priyanjan.
In the 13th over of the innings, Priyanjan took the aerial route against Vinay Kumar but could only get a top edge. The ball went up in the air. Wicketkeeper Rayudu and Tendulkar went for the catch. Tendulkar was in a good position to take the catch while Rayudu had to cover some ground. Fortunately, none of them sustained an injury. There was no need for a concussion test as their shoulders collided.
Despite the collision, Tendulkar managed to take the catch comfortably. As Rayudu fell on his back, Tendulkar smiled and pulled him up. Priyanjan departed after scoring 17 runs from 11 balls.
Yuvraj's jaw-dropping catch
Before Tendulkar, it was Yuvraj Singh who turned back the block and took an acrobatic catch at the long-on boundary. Yuvraj leaped in the air like he often would at point during his international career. He got both hands to the ball and completed the catch as Sri Lanka batter Lahiru Thirimanne was left stunned. The video of 43-year-old Yuvraj taking an excellent catch has gone viral on social media.
Thrilling win for India Masters
Earlier, Sri Lanka Masters captain Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and opted to bowl first at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. Tendulkar and Rayudu could not do much with the bat. Rayudu fell to Suranga Lakmal after scoring five runs from as many deliveries. Tendulkar was knocked over by Lakmal for a score of 10 in the fourth over.
After Gurkeerat Singh's 32-ball 44 and Stuart Binny's 31-ball 68, Yuvraj and Yusuf Pathan helped India Masters post 222/4 on the board. Yuvraj hit two fours and as many sixes in his 22-ball 31 cameo. In the same number of deliveries, Yusuf scored 56 runs featuring three fours and six sixes.
Sri Lanka Masters' run chase was alive right till the end. They needed six runs off the last ball but India won the game by four runs.
