India's star opening batter Smriti Mandhana scored her maiden Test century in the ongoing pink-ball Test against Australia in the Gold Coast on Friday. The opener achieved the milestone in 170 deliveries. Smriti pulled Ellyse Perry for a boundary to bring up her maiden Test century in just her fourth Test.

Mandhana has become the first woman to score a Test century for India in Australia on Day 2 of the ongoing day/night Test at Carrara Oval, Queensland.

The Indian batter shared a 93-run opening stand with Shafali Verma on Thursday and added another 39 with Punam Raut on Day 1 of the pink-ball Test. Mandhana got a reprieve when she was batting on 80. She was caught off a no-ball in the 46th over of the innings.

After most of the day’s play was washed out on Day 1, Mandhana talked about how she familiarized herself with the pink ball by keeping it in her kit bag for the last three months, and looked at it on and off and tried to ‘understand’.
