India star batter Smriti Mandhana's wedding with fiance Palash Muchhal had to be postponed after her father. Srinivas Mandhana, developed heart attack-like symptoms at the venue. The ceremony was postponed and an ambulance rushed to the venue. Soon after, Smriti's father was admitted to a local hospital. Doctors later confirmed that he had suffered symptoms of angina pectoris that is a condition related to a heart disease.
"At around 1.30 pm, Mr Srinivas Mandhana got left-sided chest pain, we call it 'angina' in medical terms. As the symptoms surfaced, his son called me, we sent an ambulance, he was shifted to hospital. We found out in ECG, other reports, that cardiac enzymes are elevated, hence we need to keep him in observation," Mandhana's family doctor, Naman Shah told PTI.
"Blood pressure is also elevated, efforts are on to lower it. The whole team is monitoring. If situation exacerbates, we will have to do angiography. Smriti and her family are in contact with us," he added.
Palash also taken to the hospital
Though this was already quite a shocking situation for the family, they soon suffered another setback. According to a report by NDTV, Smriti's fiance Palash Muchhal has also been hospitalised due to a viral infection and increased acidity. However, fortunately his condition was not serious and he was soon discharged after receiving treatment. He returned to the hotel later in the evening.
Wedding postponed indefinitely
As far as the wedding and other remaining programs are concerned, they have all been postponed indefinitely. The wedding ceremony was originally supposed to take place on Sunday and a week-long celebration had already been going on in Sangli, Mandhana's hometown, located in Maharashtra.
