In a surprsing development, former India cricketer Suresh Raina is set to feature for the Toronto Sixers in the Canada Super 60 tournament which is set to commence from October 8 in Vancouver. Notably, the tournament be played in a 10-over-a-side format and it will also be its inaugural season. Raina has joined other prominent international players like Alex Hales, Andre Fletcher and Jason Roy for the upcoming tournament.

The Canda Super 60 is set to begin from October 8 and will go on till October 13. Raina has already expressed his excitement over featuring in the tournament and also pointed out that the Toronto Sixers have a well-balanced squad that includes not only of multiple international players, but also of Canadian talent.

Raina's remarks on joining Toronto Sixers

“I’m really excited to be part of the Canada Super 60. Since this is the inaugural edition, it already feels special and promises to be a top-class tournament. The Toronto Sixers have a well-balanced squad with some big international names, as well as Canadian Talent and I’m looking forward to playing alongside them and contributing to the team’s success," Raina said in a statement.

The Founder and Chairman of Canada Super 60, Abhishek Shah remarked that he is thrilled to have Raina in the tournament as he will bring star value and a lot of experience with him. He further highlighted how the youngsters will be able to learn a lot from the World Cup winner.

“We are thrilled to have Suresh Raina in the competition. His presence brings not just star value but also a wealth of experience. Young and upcoming players will get the chance to learn from him, both on and off the field, which will be a huge boost for their growth," Shah stated.

Meanwhile, the Canada Super 60 is the first major tournament to be played on Canada's West Coast. It is backed by Cricket Canada and will include of both men's and women's competitions. It will be played at just a single venue that is the BC Place Stadium located in Vancouver.
