Mumbai's 23-year-old all-rounder Suryansh Shedge has received his maiden T20I call-up for the T20I series against Ireland and England. Shedge has been named an injured Nitish Kumar Reddy’s replacement for the UK tour. Reddy got injured in the recently-concluded ODI series at home against Afghanistan.

Shedge’s IPL career
Shedge has played in two Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons for Punjab Kings (PBKS) under the leadership of new T20I captain Shreyas Iyer.
Shedge made his IPL debut in 2025. He has played 12 games for PBKS so far. In IPL 2026, he got seven opportunities and scored 158 runs at an average of 39.50 and strike rate of 175.55, including a fifty. He did not get to bowl a single over in IPL 2026.
Shedge shines for India A in Sri Lanka
Recently, he played for India A in the One-Day tri-series on Sri Lankan soil. From five innings, he scored 147 runs, averaging 36.75 at a strike rate of 120.49, including a 72-run knock. He bowled 23 overs in the series and claimed two wickets at 69.50 apiece. His economy rate was just over six runs per over.
Shedge's blitz before IPL 2025 mega auction
Shedge came on IPL scouts' radar as he scored 131 runs from nine innings at a strike rate of 251.92 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024-25. Mumbai went on to win the title.
Medical update on Reddy
Reddy has been experiencing discomfort in his left quadriceps since the third and final ODI of the series against Afghanistan. He was ruled out of the second ODI due to a sore left thigh. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team has advised him to continue his rehabilitation after ruling him out of the UK tour.
