Massive setback for Texas Super Kings, pacer ruled out of MLC 2026, CSK's new recruit named replacement

Texas Super Kings led by Faf du Plessis have suffered a major setback ahead of their clash against Matthew Short-led San Francisco Unicorns. Super Kings’ left-arm pacer Nandre Burger has been ruled out of the remainder of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 due to a 'pre-existing stress reaction in his back'. He would need a 'prolonged period of rest and rehabilitation'.

Burger played two games for Super Kings in the ongoing MLC 2026. He bowled four overs and conceded 27 runs against Seattle Orcas in the high-scoring contest. He bowled two overs against Unicorns before getting ruled out due to back issue. Adam Milne replaced him in the side for MI New York clash and is likely to continue.

Who is Burger’s replacement in TSK?

Burger has been replaced by his South African teammate Dian Forrester. The batting all-rounder was roped in as injured Jamie Overton's replacement for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Forrester did not get to make his IPL debut.

Forrester plays for Jo'burg Super Kings in the SA20. From 11 innings, he scored 175 runs at an average of 58.33 and strike rate of 165.09, including a fifty. He made his Pakistan Super League (PSL) debut for Rawalpindiz, scoring 132 runs from six innings at a strike rate of 171.42. He played for Kent in T20 Blast 2026 as well, scoring 69 runs from two innings.

Forrester made his T20I debut earlier this year against New Zealand. In the five-T20I series, he scored 83 runs at an average of 27.66 and strike rate of 107.79.
