India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has joined hands with the World Bank in order to promote and raise awareness about cleaner air in South Asia for a sustainable environment. The voice of a youth icon like Pant will definitely add more weight to the World Bank's ongoing campaign that is pushing for stronger regional cooperation on air quality across South Asia.

Pant shared a heartfelt message regarding the environment

In a video posted on Instagram, Pant stated that he believes in the idea of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” - a Sanskrit phrase that translates to “The world is one family.” He further compared the world to a dressing room where everyone plays for one team and added that the environment can be protected if everyone works together.

'We Indians believe in one thing, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam which means the wold is one family. The world is like a dressing room, we all play for one team. If we work together to protect our environment, we can make this a healthy and cleaner place," Pant stated.

"Every child deserves to grow up chasing dreams undder the blue sky, feeling the joy of health and freedom. Plant trees, conserve energy, protect nature, join me and the World Bank to do your bit," he added.

With Pant acting as the voice of the campaign, there is hope that this initiative will connect with younger people even across the borders.

The 27-year-old recently came into the limelight once again when he scored twin tons in the Headingley Test against England. Though the Men in Blue suffered a five-wicket defeat in the match, Pant shattered and set various records during the match thanks to his fantastic batting.

The left-hander became the first-ever Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score centuries in both the innings of a Test match and became just the second wicketkeeper-batter in history to do so only behind former Zimbabwe cricketer Andy Flower. Additionally, he became just the seventh Indian player to achieve the feat. It will be interesting to see if Pant maintains this blistering form in the second Test of the England series which is set to commence from July 2 at Edgbaston.
