Anaya Bangar, daughter of former Indian all-rounder Sanjay Bangar, has recalled getting batting tips from Virat Kohli. Anaya who made headlines for her hormonal transformation said that she has trained with Kohli alongside Sanjay who also served as RCB's head coach.
“Yes, I’ve met him multiple times and trained with him—alongside my dad as well. He’s given me a few tips, watched me bat, and I’ve had the chance to see him bat up close,” Anaya told Filmygyan.
“I once asked him how he handles pressure at the highest level. He told me that he practices to a point where he fully understands his strengths and trusts them. He knows exactly what he can do on the field, and he simply believes in that.
“Once you truly know yourself and your game, everything else falls into place."
On May 14, Anaya shared a video of her batting indoors. The video of the captain read, "Just letting you guys that I have smtg (something) huge coming up!!"
ICC and ECB say no to transgender's participation in women's cricket -
Anaya had earlier talked about not being able to play women's cricket due to ICC's rule which prevents transgenders from playing women's cricket.
"It is based on the following principles (in order of priority), protection of the integrity of the women's game, safety, fairness and inclusion," the apex cricket board stated in a release in 2023. "The regulations will be reviewed within two years."
She also shared a post venting out when England Cricket Board (ECB) did the same earlier this year. A release from ECB stated that players whose whose biological sex is not female won't be able to play in women's cricket.
"Our regulations for recreational cricket have always aimed at ensuring that cricket remains as inclusive a sport as possible. These included measures to manage disparities, irrespective of someone’s gender, and safeguard the enjoyment of all players. However, given the new advice received about the impact of the Supreme Court ruling, we believe the changes announced today are necessary," the release said.
"We acknowledge that this decision will have a significant impact on transgender women and girls. We will work with Recreational Cricket Boards to support people impacted by this change in our regulations.
"We await updated guidance from the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and will study this carefully."
