India speedster Mohammed Shami is currently spending time with his family after he lost his spot in the Shubman Gill-led Test squad for the five-Test match series against England which is scheduled to start from June 20.

Shami, who was part of India's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 winning squad, has missed his spot in the red-ball series because he was not fit as per the selection criteria.

"He's had a little bit of a setback over the past week, got some MRIs done. Wasn't going to be able to play five Tests. Don't think his workload is where he needs to be. The medical guys told he'll be ruled out. We were hoping he'll play some part, but if he's not fit, we'd rather pick guys fit and available rather than waiting," Agarkar said while addressing the media during the announcement of India's squad for England Tests.

However, Shami took to his Instagram to share a clip where he can be seen playing cricket along with his family. Here is the video.

The caption to the video was, "A day well spent on the field with family!" implying his belief in spending quality time with his family.

Shami's last cricketing outing came during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, where he was featured for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He had a forgettable IPL season as the speedster managed to grab only six wickets in nine games, where he conceded runs at an economy of 11.23.

Shami last played a Test match in 2023 during the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at the Oval where the Pat Cummins-led side defeated India to get the Test mace. The right-arm pacer has represented India in  64 Test matches (122 innings) where he bowled 11,515 deliveries. He picked up 229 wickets at an average of 27.71, with a strike rate of 50.2 and an economy rate of 3.30. Shami has also registered 12 four-wicket hauls and six five-wicket hauls in his red-ball career
