Parveen was left frustrated by umpire's lbw call.

Canada all-rounder Parveen Kumar braved a fractured wrist to walk out to bat at no.11 in the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two 2023-27 clash against Namibia. However, Parveen's Graeme Smith moment ended in agony as umpire's dodgy lbw call led to him getting out for a two-ball duck.

In the penultimate over of the rain-curtailed encounter, Parveen had to face two dot balls. On the other end, wicketkeeper-batter Shreyas Movva was batting on 24 off 39 deliveries. Had he survived the last ball bowled by Tangeni Lungameni, Movva had a chance to guide Canada to victory as they needed 13 runs to win.

The left-arm pacer bowled a yorker. Parveen could not get bat on it and the umpire raised his finger. The ball was clearly going down the leg side but the decision went in Namibia's favour as no DRS was available. He expressed dissent and then threw his bat before picking it back up. Meanwhile, Namibia players celebrated as they got two crucial points with seventh win from 20 games.

Parveen's injury while bowling

Earlier, Parveen got injured while fielding off his own bowling. He could not complete his 10th over. From 9.3 overs, he conceded 29 runs, bowled one maiden and bagged one wicket.

Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus won the toss and opted to bat first at Wanderers Cricket Ground, Windhoek. JP Kotze (48) and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton (47 not out) missed their half-centuries. Kaleem Sana and Shahid Ahmadzai's four-fers helped Canada bowl out Namibia for 186 in 49 overs.

Canada suffer batting collapse

As rain interrupted play, revised target for Canada was 167 from 43 overs. Despite 79-run opening partnership, Canada lost the plot in the run chase. After Yuvraj Samra's fifty, Canada suffered a collapse. In injured Parveen's absence, Namibia bowlers were able to bowl dot balls and create pressure on Canada.

Parveen is set to miss the action for a while after getting injured. Also, he may face sanctions from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for showing dissent and throwing his bat.
