Pakistan and South Africa have 12 points each.

On Day 4 of the Rawalpindi Test, Pakistan surrendered against South Africa as they were bowled out for 138. South Africa chased down the target of 68 with eight wickets in hand to open their win account in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle. As the two-Test series ended in a draw, Pakistan slipped to fourth position, below Shubman Gill-led India.

Currently, New Zealand are the only side yet to play a Test in this WTC cycle. They will play their first game against Roston Chase-led West Indies who have lost all five Tests played so far.

Changes expected this year on WTC standings? 

Meanwhile, this year, India, South Africa, and England will have a chance to move up in the standings. South Africa play a two-Test series on Indian soil, commencing on November 14. Their WTC-winning captain Temba Bavuma is expected to return for the India tour.

Next month, Ben Stokes England will go up against Australia in the Ashes 2025-26. Australia are yet to announce their squad as they are uncertain about Pat Cummins’ participation. Cummins is yet to recover from lumbar bone stress. The Test series will begin on November 21 in Perth and Steve Smith is highly likely to lead the hosts.
