Indian pacer Yash Dayal, who featured for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2025, has been banned from participating in the UP T20 League by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA). According to a report by the Dainik Jagran, Dayal will not be featuring for the Gorakhpur Lions, who had signed him for a fee of INR 7 lakh.
The report further stated that the UPCA came to this decision after a case was filed against Dayal at the Sanganer Sadar Police Station in Jaipur. This came after the 27-year-old was accused of raping a minor girl earlier this year in July. This was the second major accusation against Dayal as a woman from Ghaziabad had also accused the pacer of sexual exploitation on pretext of marriage which had led to a FIR being lodged against him.
The report also mentioned that the UPCA has informed the Gorakhpur Lions to not play Dayal after the case was recently registered against the left-arm seamer. Notably, the UP T20 League is set to commence from August 17 and will be featuring a total of 6 franchises.
On the other hand, the Rajasthan High Court declined to halt the arrest of Dayal on August 6 in the case concerning the rape of a minor girl. The 27-year-old will not be provided with any protection from arrest as the girl involved is a minor. It remains to be seen what further developments will be made in the shocking case.
Dayal has won IPL titles with two different teams
Meanwhile, Dayal had risen to popularity when he made his IPL debut for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022. He would go on to pick up 11 wickets in 9 matches for the franchise that would eventually go on to win the IPL title under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. After staying with the team for the 2023 season, the pacer was signed by RCB in IPL 2024 and this is where the cricketer's fame rose rapidly.
Dayal played a key role in taking the Bengaluru-based franchise to the playoffs after a horrid start to the season. Things only got better for both the pacer and RCB in the 2025 season as they would go on to record their first-ever IPL triumph by defeating the Punjab Kings in the final. Dayal gave valiant contributions for the side with the ball throughout the season, picking up 13 wickets in 15 matches.
