India wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson credited Jasprit Bumrah for the team's T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal win against England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Samson's masterclass half-century, followed by Jasprit Bumrah's sensible bowling, helped India to register seven run victory.

Sanju Samson credited Jasprit Bumrah

Samson, who was awarded player of the Match for his 89 off a 42-ball knock, admitted that Bumrah deserves credit for India's win. Notably, despite scoring 246 runs, England gave a hard reality check to defending champions India, smashing bowlers all over the ground.  Apart from lauding Bumrah, Samson, who missed his century for just 11 runs addmitted that no one can actually score a hundred; it comes in the process.

"All credit to Jasprit Bumrah. It's an unbelievable feeling to play here at the Wankhede. You can't actually score a hundred; it comes in the process. You just have to keep going hard. Very happy to contribute," said Samson while receiving Player of the Match award.

Bumrah's performance vs England

Jasprit Bumrah was the best bowler for India in terms of conceding runs as he got hit for 33 runs in his four-over quota on a flat Wankhede track, including skipper Harry Brook's wicket. With that scalp, the legendary speedster also completed his 500 international wickets.

How India sealed victory vs England

India scored 246 runs, which was an above-par total at Wankhede, but Jacob Bethell (105 off 48) led England’s fightback with a sublime hundred after they lost three wickets in the powerplay for 68 runs.

In the end, a critical contribution from Bumrah (1/33 in 4 overs) in the death overs allowed India to stop England at 246/7 in 20 overs. Notably, India becomes the first team to feature in the final of an ICC event four times.

India will now face New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026 final, which is scheduled to take place on March 5 at iconice Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
