England captain Harry Brook feels that the batters were a ‘little bit careful’ against West Indies in the T20 World Cup 2026 clash on February 11. Chasing a target of 197 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, England were bowled out for 166 in 19 overs. Brook was dismissed caught and bowled by Gudakesh Motie. He wants to be dismissed swinging rather than the soft dismissal against Motie.
"We were probably a little bit careful, myself included," said Brook after the 30-run defeat to Shai Hope’s West Indies. "I'd much rather be caught on the boundary rather than the way I did today. That's part of T20 cricket.

"He (Motie, who finished with 3 for 33) was probably the main threat at the time so, personally, I was trying to knock it into the leg side and get Sam back on strike.
"Chasing nearly 200 is always a big ask and we thought the pitch would get better and it would slide onto the bat a little more, and that didn't happen. We thought it was chaseable, definitely. We obviously planned for dew (opting to bat second) and it didn't quite get as dewy as we thought."

However, England would have been in a worse position had it not been for the thrilling win against Nepal, courtesy Sam Curran's exceptional last over. Brook thanks the stars for not losing to a spirited Nepal.
"Thank god we won against Nepal the other night. Otherwise we'd be in a tricky situation," Brook said.
The two-time T20 World Cup-winners will now go up against Scotland on February 14 at Kolkata's Eden Gardens. England and Scotland have only clashed once in T20Is before. In the previous edition of T20 World Cup, Scotland were 90 for no loss after 10 overs when rain played spoilsport in Bridgetown.
