After a long-running boycott drama, Pakistan agreed to play against India and then surrendered, facing a 61-run defeat. The decision at toss backfired, Ishan Kishan’s assault made Salman Agha forget he has a mystery spinner Usman Tariq in his lineup. As Pakistan were heading towards a humiliating defeat, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi couldn’t come to terms with the reality and left the R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo like a fan disappointed with the match’s result.
The video of Naqvi leaving the stadium while Pakistan players were on the ground has gone viral on social media -
Reportedly, Naqvi was in Colombo not just to watch the India-Pakistan clash but to have discussions with the ICC officials.
As Pakistan’s losing streak against India continued, former India pacer Shoaib Akhtar slammed Naqvi, calling him ‘incompetent’.

“We were nowhere in the match. The way Shaheen played… he was bowling at 125 kmph. This isn’t the requirement of modern-day cricket. These aren’t the talents that will handle pressure," Akhtar said while speaking on ABP News.
“For the last 15-20 years, there has been no investment. The sad reality of the situation is that while we fought with India on the ground at one point, today we cannot even dream of defeating them.
“One guy who doesn’t know anything has become the Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman (Mohsin Naqvi). What can you do? How will the team run? You have made a superstar out of a player (Babar Azam) who cannot win you a game."
Low-on-confidence Pakistan to face Namibia
After the defeat to India, Pakistan’s confidence and net run rate (NRR) took a huge hit. They slipped to the third spot in Group A points table despite two wins from three games. USA are ahead of them with two wins from four games a much better NRR. However, Pakistan are expected to beat Namibia in their next game and advance to Super 8 stage. If Namibia pull off an upset, USA will advance in the tournament.
