Vaibhav Suryavanshi scripted history with an incredible knock of 175 against England in the final of the U19 World Cup. He opened the innings alongside Aaron George and unleashed his fury on the opposing bowlers from the get-go. Though George departed in the fourth over for eight runs, it was the mammoth partnership between Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre that helped the Men in Blue get into a strong position.
Suryavanshi was the aggressor among the two and smashed sixes all around the Harare Sports Club. The left-hand batter piled on runs from one end and Mhatre played the supporting role very well. Suryavanshi ended up reaching his century after facing just 55 deliveries. This was his fourth hundred in Youth ODIs bringing him level with both Shubman Gill and Vijay Zol for the most tons for India in the format. The record is held by Unmukt Chand with five centuries under his name.
Suryavanshi and Mhatre's huge stand
Mhatre would reach his half-century soon after, but failed to keep going on and got dismissed for 53 runs in the 19th over. This wicket would also see the 142-run partnership come to an end as India went down to 162/2. However, Suryavanshi was in his zone and continued to smack the opposing bowlers after the fall of the wicket. He would reach the 150-run mark in the next few overs and looked set to score a double-hundred.

However, he would unfortunately end up missing out and got dismissed for 175 runs from just 80 deliveries by Manny Lumsden. The explosive knock included 15 boundaries and sixes each and it got India over the 250-run mark. Suryavanshi went on to break multiple records with the inning.
Suryavanshi breaks a flurry of records
The 14-year-old became the Indian to register the highest individual score in the U19 World Cup and also the player to hit the most sixes in an innings in the tournament. This was also the highest individual score ever recorded in the final of the U19 World Cup. Suryavanshi also became the first batter to hit 100 or more sixes in Youth ODIs and has also claimed the record for the most sixes hit in a single edition of the tournament at 30. It remains to be seen if this century would be enough to help India win their record-extending sixth U19 World Cup title.
