India young batter Sai Sudharsan who was representing Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2025-26 has reported the the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) on 29th December 2025 with a history of injury to the right side of the rib cage sustained while diving during a running between the wickets in a VHT match against Madhya Pradesh on 26th December 2025.

Sports Tak understands that It later emerged that Sai had felt discomfort in the same area about a week earlier, after being hit by the ball while batting in the nets. A CT scan confirmed a small, undisplaced fracture to his right seventh rib.
Sai is currently continuing his recovery with lower-body fitness and conditioning work, while his injured rib is kept protected to allow it to heal properly. Sai has been responding well to the programme so far. Upper-body training is expected to begin once the pain reduces over the next 7 to 10 days, after which he will slowly move into a planned upper-body strength and conditioning routine.
Sudharsan's performance in VHT
Sudharsan has represented Tamil Nadu in two matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Puducherry and Madhya Pradesh, where he scored 48 and 51 runs respectively. There are chances that he will miss Tamil Nadu's upcoming VHT clash against Rajasthan.
Sudharsan's IPL future
Sudharsan who is currently in BCCI CoE represents Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Southpaw features as an opener for the two time champions. Sudharsan will now recover before the 19th edition of the cash-rich league.
