Rahane, who has been overlooked by the Indian selectors, has been working hard to stay in contention for the Indian Test team. In the second innings, Leicestershire was struggling at 74/3. Rahane formed a crucial partnership with Peter Handscomb, adding 183 runs and bringing Leicestershire back into the game.

 

Rahane played a brilliant innings, scoring 102 runs off 192 balls with 13 fours and one six. His century helped Leicestershire surpass 250 runs and put them in a good position.

 

This was Rahane's 40th First-Class century, which could bring him to the attention of Indian selectors, especially with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy coming up. Rahane has been a key player for India in winning two consecutive series and even captained the team in their last victory in Australia.

 

After the Australia tour, Ajinkya Rahane's career declined and he was dropped from the Indian team. However, he continued to work hard in domestic cricket and was recalled for the ICC World Test Championship Final 2023. Rahane performed well with the bat in the final, bailing India out of trouble. He was subsequently selected for the West Indies tour.

Rahane was the only Indian batter to perform well in the World Test Championship Final, saving the team from a difficult situation. He was selected for the West Indies tour but was dropped after playing two matches. Rahane has not been included in the Indian team since then and was not named in the Duleep Trophy 2024 squads, indicating that he is not currently in contention for selection. Rahane has scored over 13,000 runs in First-Class cricket, averaging 45.76. It remains uncertain what his future holds for the Indian Test team.
