India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal brought up his 7th century in the longest format during the second Test against West Indies. He took 145 deliveries to reach the milestone and continued his fine form with the knock. Earlier, he had provided the hosts with a strong start and had formed a 55-run opening stand with KL Rahul before forming a massive partnership alongside Sai Sudharsan that has still not been broken.
Jaiswal scored a total of 16 boundaries on his way to his hundred, smacking the opposing bowlers all around the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi. The left-hand batter has been in terrific form in the longest format and with this knock, he once again proved why he is one of the best Test batters in the world as of current.
The 23-year-old had been dismissed for 36 runs during India's only innings of the first Test against West Indies on the batter-friendly pitch in Ahmedabad. He went on to make amends in the second match and ended up reaching his century after playing some fine shots all around the park.
Jaiswal had been brilliant against England
Meanwhile, Jaiswal's previous Test assignment was the five-match Test series against England earlier this year and he had performed well there too. He finished the series with a total of 411 runs under his name from 10 innings, including two centuries and half-centuries each.
Coming to the second West Indies Test, India had won the toss and had opted to bat first in Delhi. The duo of Jaiswal and KL Rahul helped in getting the hosts off to a pretty decent start as they scored a couple of boundaries and got the side's total over the 50-run mark. However, Rahul ended up losing his wicket to Jomel Warrican for 38 runs in the 18th over.
Jaiswal formed a huge stand with Sudharsan
Then Jaiswal would go on to form a key partnership alongside Sudharsan, who looked to be in good touch. The duo would ensure that the side did not lose any more wickets and crossed the 150-run mark comfortably in the second session. While Sudharsan would end up reaching his half-century, Jaiswal would go on to tonk a hundred, taking the hosts' total over the 200-run mark at the loss of just a wicket. It remains to be seen how far will the two be able to take their partnership on the first day.
