Sciver-Brunt lands coaching role with The Hundred franchise ahead of new season

Former England fast bowler Katherine Sciver-Brunt is set to begin a new chapter in her cricketing journey after being appointed assistant coach of Trent Rockets Women for the 2026 edition of The Hundred.

The appointment marks Sciver-Brunt's first coaching role since bringing the curtain down on her illustrious playing career in 2023. The former England star previously represented Trent Rockets during the first three seasons of The Hundred, making 19 appearances for the franchise.

Widely regarded as one of England Women's greatest bowlers, Sciver-Brunt finished her international career with 335 wickets in 267 matches across all formats, making her the country's second-highest wicket-taker in women's cricket.

Sciver-Brunt excited to begin coaching journey

Reacting to her appointment, Sciver-Brunt admitted returning to Trent Rockets felt like the perfect opportunity to step back into the game after retirement.

"The time has come for me to step back into a role within cricket. I've had a wild three years since retiring, trying to figure out what life looks like for me now as a mum."

"The first place I thought of was Trent Rockets. Trent Bridge is such a special place and having been involved as a player with the Rockets before, coming back as a coach was an opportunity I couldn't turn down."

"I'm moving into a new era, and I know coaching and mentoring players of this standard will be something I'll love."

Since retiring from professional cricket, the 41-year-old has worked extensively as a commentator and analyst while balancing family life alongside her wife, England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt. The couple welcomed their son last year.

Trent Rockets strengthen coaching setup

Katherine Sciver-Brunt's arrival is part of a wider overhaul of Trent Rockets' coaching staff ahead of the new Hundred season.

Former Nottinghamshire spinner Graeme White has joined Chris Read's support team as the women's fielding coach, while ex-South Africa white-ball bowling coach Anton Roux has been appointed assistant coach for the Trent Rockets men's side under Peter Moores.
