The Brazilian midfielder regains national team relevance under new management.

Amid mounting transfer speculation and a wave of Saudi interest, Casemiro has made a definitive decision about his future at Manchester United. The Brazilian midfield veteran, who had drawn consistent links to a move to Saudi Arabia, has now committed to staying at Old Trafford for the 2025–26 season—driven by both club ambitions and his World Cup aspirations.

Casemiro stays put to revive Brazil career

The 33-year-old has decided to remain in the Premier League after receiving a major career boost from none other than Carlo Ancelotti. The new Brazil head coach and former Real Madrid boss recently named Casemiro in his first national squad, marking an end to the midfielder’s two-year international exile.

Ancelotti’s trust in Casemiro—whom he previously managed to great success at the Bernabéu—was underscored by his full 90-minute appearances in Brazil’s qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay. The Selecão earned four valuable points and rose to third in the CONMEBOL standings, with Casemiro playing a steady hand in midfield.

“Playing in the Premier League keeps me sharp, and I want to be part of the team heading to the World Cup next summer,” Casemiro has told those close to him, according to sources close to the player.

Saudi millions rejected—for now

Despite Manchester United being open to offloading the high-earning star—whose weekly wages stand at £350,000—Casemiro appears uninterested in cashing in just yet. Clubs like Al-Nassr had been circling, offering lucrative contracts in line with their high-profile spending spree that famously landed Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Red Devils, in the midst of a squad revamp under new manager Ruben Amorim, have reportedly told Casemiro he’s free to leave if he wishes. However, his recent return to Amorim’s starting XI and growing importance in Brazil's setup has reinforced his desire to stay competitive in Europe.

Though a summer exit is still technically on the table, Casemiro has made it clear that his focus is on performing at the highest level in the lead-up to the 2026 World Cup in North America.

A veteran presence in a rebuilding squad

With just one year remaining on his current deal, United hold an option to extend Casemiro’s contract by 12 months. But the club is unlikely to push back should the midfielder change his mind later. For now, though, Casemiro remains a key part of Amorim’s transitional project, providing leadership in a dressing room facing significant changes.

Casemiro’s decision adds a measure of clarity amid ongoing transfer noise, particularly as United look to offload other big names like Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Marcus Rashford. Meanwhile, interest from Inter Milan in striker Rasmus Hojlund appears to have cooled, with the Italian club eyeing alternate options.
