Manchester United icon Paul Scholes has revealed the thing about Cristiano Ronaldo that made him and his fellow teammates unhappy at Old Trafford. The Red Devils roped Ronaldo from Sporting CP in Portugal during the summer of 2003. Sir Alex Ferguson wasted no time in securing the services of the Portuguese winger after he impressed in a pre-season friendly against Manchester United.
Despite arriving in the Premier League as a raw talent, Cristiano Ronaldo went on to become one of the club's biggest player ever before sealing a then-record transfer to Real Madrid in 2009. But in his early days as an youngster, the forward was often criticised for going down too easy and diving to win fouls for his team.
While speaking to fans on The Overlap Fan Debate, Scholes opened up on how he felt about Cristiano Ronaldo occasionally diving. The former midfielder admitted that the entire squad was not happy with the reputation built by Ronaldo, and noted how the winger eventually stopped doing it after being told by his teammates.
Scholes stated:
“No, we weren’t happy with that. As a collective, as a team, we didn’t like it. He got told about that and it soon stopped.”
Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United for his second stint in 2021, has scored 145 goals and 72 assists in 346 appearances for the side. After his unceremonious exit in 2022, the 40-year-old joined Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, where he currently plays.
Kylian Mbappe's love for Cristiano Ronaldo
Kylian Mbappte's mother, Fayza Lamari, has disclosed that the Real Madrid star was a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo in his childhood. Speaking to L'Equipe, via Goal, Lamari said that Mbappe's love for Ronaldo was such that he even considered himself to be 'Portuguese in his head.'

Then there was Robinho, Ronaldinho…As for Cristiano Ronaldo…, Kylian was Portuguese in his head. For him, he was Portuguese. He would go to a friend's father's house to watch Portugal matches and support Ronaldo. He was in love. He said, 'I'm Portuguese,'" said Mbappe's mother, Fayza Lamari.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently represents Saudi Pro League's Al-Nass, is a Real Madrid icon. Between 2009 and 2018, the Portuguese legend amassed 450 goals in 438 appearances for the Spanish club. He also won two LaLiga titles and four UEFA Champions League trophies, among other honours.
