Enzo Fernandez's agent, Javier Pastore, has lambasted Chelsea for imposing a two-game suspension on the Argentine midfielder, as he believes that the club has taken a harsh decision.
Big action against Enzo Fernandez
Earlier today, Enzo Fernandez was suspended for two games because of his recent public comments regarding his future amid strong interest from Real Madrid.
In an interaction with The Athletic, Javier Pastore, raised questions on Chelsea's decision, saying that the club is going through a complex situation, as the Blues are competing for a qualification in the UEFA Champions League and the absence of a key player could have a negative impact on the results.
"The punishment is completely unfair — banning the player for two matches, which moreover are also absolutely crucial for Chelsea because qualification for the Champions League is at stake and he is one of the team’s most important players," added Pastore.
Pastore claimed that he did not get a proper understanding of the decision taken by Chelsea, as Enzo is committed to fulfil his contract with the Blues. Pastore also said that Ezno's statement about Madrid had no relations with his plans to leave the North London club.
"Enzo didn’t understand the situation. When the coach told him, he accepted it because he’s a highly professional guy who’s always fully committed wherever he is and respects decisions, but we don’t understand the punishment because he doesn’t mention any club or say he wants to leave Chelsea, far from it," added Pastore.
"He only mentions Madrid, the city, because he was asked which European city he’d like to live in one day, and he said Madrid because of the language, because it’s similar to Buenos Aires and because it’s logical — it’s only natural for an Argentine to say that — and also because of the culture, the weather … but at no point does he say he wants to leave Chelsea or London," concluded Pastore.
Enzo Fernandez will Chelsea's FA Cup quarter-final game against Port Vale and next Sunday's Premier League clash against Manchester City.
