What did Javier Mascherano had to say on this matter?

More than surprised I was concerned … It’s unfortunate because if there’s something wonderful for people, it’s to watch Leo play.

Lionel Messi and Mascherano were in the same team when they used to play at Barcelona. They played 414 games for both Argentina and Barcelona. The duo paired for three goals and averaged 2.27 points per game, they won two UEFA Champions League, five La Liga titles and Copa del Reys titles each before reuniting at Inter Miami.

Lionel Messi's legacy at MLS club Inter Miami

In a short time, Lionel Messi has established himself as the best player for Inter Miami and one of the best to play in Major League Soccer (MLS). He arrived from Paris Saint Germain in the summer of 2023 as a free transfer and has shown his class since then.

He has scored 34 goals and has 18 assists in the 39 games for the club. He also helped the team to win the Leagues Cup and the Supporters Shield. Lionel Messi's contract will come to an end at the end of 2025. The club will be keen to keep him at the club beyond this year.

At 37 years old, Messi is not getting any younger as he is more susceptible to injuries. So far he has picked up a total of seven injuries, due to which he had to miss 27 games. But, his presence and ability have helped the team improve in many aspects without him being on the pitch.
