Arsenal is once again facing challenges with reports suggesting that they may be “bottling: the English Premier League title following a lack of consistency. The Gunners have dropped points in recent games, including the 2-2 draw against the Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Mikel Arteta’s side, however, have continued their domination in the title race having played more games then second placed Manchester City, who are closely following them. The result brought back memories of past disappointments with stats showing their undeniable drop-off towards the end of three of the last four Premier League seasons.
Amid all this, Arsenal's boss has finally responded to the ‘bottling’ narratives that have been in the talks all over the internet ever since they drew against the Wolves.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s hot take on Premier League 'bottling' narrative
When asked about the situation and the term used on the internet for the team, Arteta replied:
“I would say, because to predict somebody with a 0.2 expected goal, probably and one shot to concede an equaliser, the manner that we did it, is nobody can really understand that”.
The 43-year-old further said:
“This is football and that's the beauty of it. And that was a chapter. So we have a long season, chapter 27 says, okay, we drew against Wolves in this manner”.
The Spanish manager continued:
“What I'm very interested is about the next one, is what we are made of”.
Arteta also stated that the word “bottlers” is not part of his vocabulary, as he denied that Arsenal are blowing another chance to win the league. Meanwhile, if Pep Guardiola’s side wins all 12 remaining games, they will be crowned the league champions once again.
