Arne Slot has dismissed speculation about a new contract extension, stating his complete focus on finishing the 2025/26 season strongly amid recent improved results. The Reds have been going through a tough season with him, while his job is under fire as many managers have been sacked amid the struggling form.
Arne Slot dismisses new contract talks with Liverpool
Slot spoke to the media ahead of his side’s clash against Brighton this weekend, where he was asked about the new contract with the Premier League side. Slot reacted to links between individual wins and contract talks, stating:
“One win and talk about a new contract…?”.
The Reds boss added:
“We didn't win just one by the way, we won more than everyone thinks last few months. We have to fight in this season until the end, my focus is totally on that”.
The Dutchman's remarks come as Liverpool, the reigning Premier League champions from his debut 2024/25 campaign, have faced a turbulent second season with inconsistent performances, earlier speculation about potential replacement by Xabi Alonso, and ongoing internal reviews of his long-term future.
Slot's current deal runs until June 2027, and while the club has previously signaled intentions to discuss an extension, particularly after strong recruitment moves like Ryan Gravenberch's six-year renewal, talks have been delayed by the team's ups and downs.
