Manchester City is having a tough season despite being in second place in the English Premier League. The Sky Blues are coming off a 3-1 loss against Bodoe/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League.
In their most recent Premier League clash, they suffered a defeat against Manchester United with a score of 2-0. Amid all these results, Pep Guardiola has given a passionate defense for his side despite the disappointing results in a row.
Pep Guardiola's surprise Arsenal take amid City's Premier League title slip
Guardiola believes that the players remain "extraordinary” and is preparing for Wolves' visit to the Etihad on Saturday. Ahead of his upcoming clash, the City boss, in a media appearance, said:
"One week ago we were at Newcastle and won 2-0 and you look in the Champions League how strong they are.”
Guardiola continued:
"I have an extraordinary team and we are all together. I don't have any doubts about that.”
Guardiola went on to praise Arsenal, who are currently at the top of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League tables. The Spanish head coach said:
"[Arsenal] are the best team in the world.”
As City’s title race fades away, the 55-year-old hopes that City will be able to get closer to the Gunners. The Catalan football manager hopes Mikel Arteta’s side will give them a chance to closely follow them. He said:
They are the best team right now, and hopefully we can be close, getting better, and they can give us one chance to catch them."
Arsenal is currently on top of the league table with 50 points, with City following them with 43 points. Aston Villa closely follows Guardiola’s side at third, followed by Liverpool at fourth and Manchester United at fifth.
