John Terry compares Max Dowman with Lionel Messi
The Gunners' academy product, scored the winner against Everton, with this he became the Premier League's youngest goal scorer ever. Now, Chelsea icon John Terry has drawn a parallel between Dowman and Lionel Messi, saying he has not seen a player cruise past defenders like him and Messi.
Terry admitted that he really made a big comparison, but given Dowman's potential, it is very clear that he is going to be a big player and help Arsenal achieve more titles in the coming future.
"Max Dowman, what a player! 16 years of age. Absolutely incredible. I watched him play against Chelsea about a year ago and I’ve not seen anyone glide past people like this man does other than Messi. That’s a big, big comparison, but this man is a proper talent and will play a big part in Arsenal’s future and England," said Terry on TikTok.
Before Dowman, the record of Premier League's youngest scorer was held by James Vaugha, who achieved the feat by scoring in Everton's 2-0 win against Crystal Palace in April 2005.
After securing a clinical win over Everton, Arsenal have made significant progress in the title race, as they stand atop in the Premier League standings with 70 points in 31 games. The Gunners have a nine point lead over the second placed Manchester City.
