Epic Games Store is making significant strides in the mobile gaming landscape, introducing a host of updates aimed at both players and developers. The platform has expanded its catalog and implemented new features to improve the overall gaming experience.
Expanded Game Library and Free Titles
In a major move, Epic Games Store has added nearly 20 third-party mobile games to its platform. Alongside popular titles like Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League Sideswipe, this inclusion marks a key step in the platform’s evolution within mobile gaming. Additionally, Epic has rolled out free games for Android users globally, as well as for iOS players within the European Union. As part of this initiative, Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee and Bloons TD 6 are available at no cost until February 20, with more free titles expected in the future. Epic Games plans to transition from monthly free releases to a weekly schedule, ensuring a steady stream of complimentary games for users.
App Upgrades and Developer Support
The Epic Games Store mobile app also receives new upgrades, including a persistent Epic Account login that allows players to seamlessly access their games. An auto-update function has been introduced, ensuring games are always up-to-date and ready to play.
For developers, Epic Games continues to offer enticing benefits. The platform’s revenue split remains highly favorable, with an 88/12 model for direct payments and 0% fees for third-party transactions. In addition, Epic has launched the "Launch Everywhere with Epic" program, which reduces Unreal Engine royalty rates to just 3.5% for eligible games debuting on the Epic Games Store. This initiative supports developers striving for success across multiple platforms.
Future Growth and Self-Publishing Tools
Epic Games has also made moves to streamline the self-publishing process for mobile game developers. Currently in beta, these self-publishing tools are set to become available to all developers and publishers by the end of the year, expanding the platform’s accessibility.
With these new updates, Epic Games continues to demonstrate its commitment to building a strong and diverse ecosystem that benefits both players and developers alike.
