Florida Panthers won their second consecutive Stanley Cup title on the trot.

Leon Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers lost 5-1 to Florida Panthers in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on Tuesday. With this victory, the Florida Panthers secured their second Stanley Cup title on the trot.

What did Leon Draisaitl speak after heartbreaking loss in Stanley Cup Finals?

Sam Reinhart managed to score four out of the five goals that the Panthers scored. Sergei Bobrovsky managed to make 28 saves and Matthew Tkachuk also chipped in with a goal to help his team secure the victory.

The Oilers lost to Florida Panthers in last year's Stanley Cup Final in seven games. This time around, the series was finished in six games.

Following the loss, Draisaitl gave his honest reaction about back-to-back defeats at the hands of the Panthers. A reporter asked him what he would remember about this team. Draisaitl said,

Yeah, we battled, but we're not leaving here as winners.

When he was asked whether it hurts more the second time, Draisaitl responded,

Always hurts. Yeah, I don't know. It's not more or less. It's just the same.

Not just this, the reporter even asked about the team's belief and confidence going into the playoffs, to which Draisaitl replied,

The takeaway is that we didn't win. Nobody cares. Nobody cares. We didn't win. So, good, try again next year.

Leon Draisaitl managed to score 52 goals and 54 assists in the 2024-25 regular season. During the playoffs, Draisaitl featured in 23 games and notched up 11 goals and 22 assists.

Connor McDavid credits Florida Panthers for their win

Apart from Leon Draisaitl, Edmonton Oilers skipper Connor McDavid also looked disappointed after his team lost out to Florida Panthers for the second straight year in the Stanley Cup Finals. He further mentioned that the Oilers struggled against the Panthers and could not find a way to respond.

Obviously, their forecheck was great. They tilted the rink, McDavid said, in postgame comments on Tuesday, via CBS Sports. They were able to kind of stay on top of us all over the place, (and we were) never really able to generate any momentum up the ice... Credit to them, (as) they played well.

McDavid also spoke about the depth that Florida Panthers have and they even had an edge over the Oilers as there players scored over 20 points in the playoffs.

Connor McDavid registered 33 points in the playoffs, which is tied with Leon Draisaitl. However, he couldn't score in Game 6 and had just two points in the last four games.
