The 2025 Formula 1 World Driver's Championship and the World Constructor's Championship will commence with a double header in April. Before the season kicks off, the team is making changes in their lineups to ensure a more competitive season than last year. Be it Red Bull sacking Sergio Perez to bring in Liam Lawson or Ferrari signing the seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton, 2025 has already been buzzing with these updates. To add more to it, the Enstone-based Formula One team Alpine aka BWT Alpine Formula One Team has also made a significant addition to their driver's lineup to turn their fate around in the upcoming season.

Alpine managed to stay in the sixth spot in the Constructor's Championship, the same as 2023, while their drivers Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly secured a double podium at the 2024 São Paulo Grand Prix, with the former finishing second and the latter claiming P3. As the team heads into the 2025 season, they have added one more driver to their lineup who was previously associated with their rival Williams.

Alpine's new prospect for 2025 season

The driver that the team has added is none other than the 21-year-old Argentine standout Franco Colapinto. As per Formula 1.com's report, Alpine signed an agreement with Williams to secure Colapinto as their reserve driver for a multi-year deal. Colapinto will be joining Alpine's already star-studded lineup of Ryō Hirakawa, who has also recently joined the team as a test and reserve driver, and Paul Aron, alongside their full-time drivers Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan. Doohan is promoted to the full-time driver position for the 2025 season after Ocon's departure.

Sharing his thoughts on joining Alpine, Franco Colapinto shared that he was excited to join the team and expressed his gratitude to Williams for their support.

"I am super excited to have the opportunity to join BWT Alpine Formula One Team. First of all, I want to say thank you to Williams for all their support from the moment I joined the Academy until the last race in Abu Dhabi. They turned my dream of racing in Formula One into reality, and I will always be grateful for that," said Colapinto

He further thanked team principal Oliver Oakes, executive advisor Flavio Briatore, and Luca de Meo, the CEO of the Renault Group, for believing in him.
