Indian hockey team created history after they defeated Spain 2-1 in their bronze medal match at the ongoing Paris Olympics. Harmanpreet-led side becomes the first Indian team to win a consecutive hockey medal in the Olympics since the 1972 Munich Games. After the bronze medal in hockey, India's medal tally rises to four. India, who claimed the bronze in Tokyo Games after a hiatus of 41 years, lived up to the expectations despite not having a perfect build-up to the Games. The last time India won back-to-back Olympic medals was in 1968 (bronze) and 1972 editions (bronze).
