However, the javelin prodigy secured a second-place finish in Zurich, coming in behind Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic, the Olympic silver medalist from Tokyo 2020.
Commenting on his Zurich performance, Chopra mentioned that he deliberately didn't exert excessively to ensure his fitness remained optimal for the imminent Diamond League final and the Asian Games in September-October. This strategic move in Zurich marked the only time in 2023 when Chopra didn't achieve gold in international competitions, especially noteworthy since it came shortly after his groundbreaking World Athletics Championships victory in Budapest.
