The moment that every fan was waiting for in the Paris Olympics 2024 is finally over. The name of the player who became the world's fastest runner in the men's 100-meter race is Noah Lyles. Noah is an American athlete. Earlier, Kishane Thompson of Jamaica was being declared the winner of this race but Lyles surprised every fan. America's Lyles defeated Jamaica's Thompson by 5/1000th of a second to win the men's 100-meter gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Kishane Thompson (Jamaica), Oblique Seville (Jamaica), Noah Lyles (USA), Fred Kerley (USA), Akani Simbine (South Africa), Letsile Tebogo (Botswana), Lamont Marcell Jacobs (Italy), and Kenny Bednarek (USA) were the 8 finalists competing in the 100-meter race final in the ongoing edition of the Paris Olympics 2024 and Lyles edged out the rest in the race of milliseconds. Lyles’s official time is 9.79 (.784) and on the other hand, Thompson had to settle for a silver with a time of 9.79 (.789), with USA’s Kerley taking bronze with a time of 9.81.
That has to be one of the closest 100-meter races with the closest finish lines. After crossing the finish line, the athletes weren't sure where they were, so they had to wait for the results to flash before they could tell. A thrilling race with an incredible conclusion. Lyles and Thompson were separated by not much. They crossed the finish line in 9.79 seconds, but Lyles won this race from what could go down in history as the thinnest margin of victory. Lyles raised his arms in triumph to raucous applause from the packed crowd at the Stade de France as his name appeared at the top of the standings. It was the first time an American had won the title since Justin Gatlin did so in 2004. This will also be the first time since 2004 that two Americans will be standing on the podium. Lyles was also the defending world champion in the 100 meters from last year.
Usain Bolt holds the world record in the 100 meters with the phenomenal timing of 9.58 seconds, set in the year 2009. At the Olympics in London in 2012, he finished this race in a time of 9.63 seconds, which is the Olympic record. Since then, neither has come close to matching the set, cementing Usain St. Leo Bolt's reputation as one of the greatest athletes to ever live in history.
