In yet another proud moment for badminton in India, HS Prannoy stunned World no. 1 Danish badminton star HS Prannoy 13-21, 21-15, 21-16 to reach the semi-final of the BWF World Championships in Denmark. Beating the Danish on his home soil is no mean feat, and also confirmed a medal for the 31-year-old.

In doing so, Prannoy became the fourth Indian men's singles player after Prakash Padukone, Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen to win a medal at the World Championships.
"O' yes! I finally have a worlds medal," said Prannoy after the match.

"I just zoned out, the only thing under my control is me. I was actually not thinking anything else today, just thinking what to do to take the next five points. A lot of thinking I was doing inside but was not aware what was happening around. I was pretty much in my zone after the second game," he added.
