CWG 2026: India make mixed 4x400m relay final after finishing fourth in Heat 2

India’s mixed 4x400m relay squad secured a spot in the Commonwealth Games final after navigating a tense opening round heat. Lead-off runner Vishal Thennarasu Kayalvizhi handed the baton off in second place following an explosive 46.10-second opening leg. However, the team lost ground during the second leg as Anisa Babu clocked 53.90 seconds, dropping India down to fourth. A steady 47.00-second effort from Rajesh Ramesh kept their hopes alive before anchor Rashdeep Kaur brought the baton home in 53.98 seconds, stopping the clock at 3:20.98.

Although England dominated Heat 2 with a time of 3:15.11, trailed by Kenya (3:15.92) and host nation Scotland (3:19.07), India’s fourth-place finish was strong enough to push them through to the summit clash as one of the fastest non-automatic qualifiers. The Indian quartet will line up in the final scheduled for August 2.
