This was not only a personal achievement but a proud moment for Indian chess.

The Grandmaster title of Mitrabha has been achieved through toil, efforts, and lots of awards.

Grandmaster Mitrabha Guha, India’s 72nd Grandmaster and the first ever Commonwealth Rapid Gold medal winner, has been crowning his achievements as the first Indian chess Grandmaster to grace the famous quiz show Arch Kaun Banega Crorepati. He has appeared on this legendary show hosted by none other than the megastar Amitabh Bachchan, which is the Indian version of the phenomenally popular Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (WWTBAM). Appearance on the show also proves that Mitrabha is a great grandmaster who also possesses quick thinking and has a lot of general knowledge.

Rare Achievement for any Grandmaster
Mitrabha joins an elite band of chess Grandmasters who have graced an iteration of the WWTBAM. The British Grandmaster James Plaskett appeared on the UK version in 2006, and the 13th World Champion Garry Kasparov, participated in the Georgian adaptation with his wife, Daria Tarasova. As an Indian, Mitrabha becomes the first GM from India to finally grace the hot seat in the KBC episode.

He was so calm but brilliant at the same time during the episode, answering all the questions just like on the chessboard. One question was also about chess, so he found it pretty personal in his experience. Sujata Guha and Raj Guha, his parents were also present in the studio to have a pride view of their son's performance.

For him to be as much unfazed, against a former World Rapid Champion like Daniil Dubov as now sitting before Amitabh Bachchan: it speaks volumes about his mental strength and determination.

A Brief into the Journey of Mitrabha in Chess
The Grandmaster title of Mitrabha has been achieved through toil, efforts, and lots of awards. There are many tournaments and trophies that he has won in his kitty and proudly displayed in his house; many with recent wins in the Commonwealth Rapid Gold medalist award significant on the board for India's chess elite.

In an exclusive interview, he also spoke about his chess journey, how he has faced challenges that he s faced with, and what his future goals are in terms of chess, stressing that he hopes to achieve many more milestones beyond chess.

Bright Future Ahead
This was not only a personal achievement but a proud moment for Indian chess. His performance on the show highlighted the notion of becoming well-educated and equipped with the skills to think fast under pressure; themes echoed equally at the chessboard and in life itself.

While Mitrabha inspires young chess enthusiasts with his journey, it serves as a lesson that success is a product of talent, hard work, and the ability to grab opportunities. The entire episode is available to be seen on-demand on the SonyLiv website or app but is subscription-based.

More Calls to Action for Chess Stars at KBC
Mitrabha's advent into KBC is an opening gateway that will encourage to bring more Grandmasters as well as other popular players in chess to the show. Such victory speaks a lot about the promotion that Indian chess enjoys and also the acceptance of its players as multifaceted individuals and not automata.

The chess world eagerly anticipates his next move on the board and off it as Mitrabha pursues his dreams.
