ISSF World Championships: Manu Bhaker, Rhythm, Esha clinch another gold for India in women's 25m pistol team event

The Indian women's 25m pistol team showcased outstanding skill at the ISSF World Championships, securing the gold medal in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Sunday, August 20. The formidable trio of Rhythm Sangwan, Esha Singh, and Manu Bhaker delivered a combined score of 1744, narrowly edging out Chinese Taipei. The latter team, which consisted of Tien Chia Chen, Tu Yi Tzu, and Wu Chia Ying, missed the gold by a whisker, registering a score of 1743 to clinch the silver. Not far behind, China secured the bronze, adding to the competition's fierce nature.

 

With this victory, India's tally of gold medals at these World Championships rises to three. Previously, the duo of Esha Singh and Shiva Narwal tasted success in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. Further glory was added when the Indian women's 10m air rifle team, composed of Mehuli Ghosh, Tilottama Sen, and Ramita, captured gold with a score of 1895.9.

 

India's medal momentum didn't stop there. On the preceding Saturday, Mehuli Ghosh clinched a coveted Olympic quota spot, courtesy of her bronze medal win in the women's 10m air rifle category. Additionally, the men's 10m Air Pistol team contributed to the medal tally with a bronze.

Overall, the Indian contingent has made a resounding statement at the World Championships, accumulating five medals and showcasing their shooting prowess on the global stage.
