The Haryana Steelers clinched their first-ever playoff victory with a decisive 42-25 win over the Gujarat Giants at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in February 26th eliminator in their Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2024 match. This victory sets them up for a Semi-final showdown against the Jaipur Pink Panthers. The standout performances came from the raiding partnership of Vinay, who amassed 12 points, and Shivam Patare, with 8 points, but it was Mohit Nandal's exceptional defense, contributing 7 tackle points, that truly dismantled the Giants' playoff dreams.

Steelers dominate Giants

The match kicked off with the intensity it deserved, with the Steelers dominating the Giants right from the beginning. Vinay and Shivam Patare's raiding prowess quickly became evident, leading to the match's first ALL OUT and a seven-point advantage for the Steelers.

The Giants, however, remained resilient, managing to overturn the deficit. A SUPER RAID by Parteek Dahiya, eliminating Mohit Nandal, Jaideep Dahiya, and Rahul Sethpal, resulted in an ALL OUT against the Steelers, propelling the Giants to a slender one-point lead.

The final five minutes of the first half saw the Steelers' defense, especially Mohit Nandal, excel, preventing the Giants from widening their lead. This effort allowed the Steelers to enter the halftime break with a 21-16 lead.

The momentum firmly shifted in favor of the Steelers in the second half, leading to a second ALL OUT against the Giants. The Steelers' control over the game only strengthened, with Vinay and Patare scoring effortlessly. A SUPER RAID by Vinay, taking out Sombir, Deepak Singh, and D Balaji, resulted in a third ALL OUT, giving the Steelers a commanding 36-19 lead with just ten minutes remaining.

Any hopes the Giants had of a comeback were effectively quashed by the Steelers, particularly by Vinay and Mohit Nandal, who were determined to not only secure the win but also to increase the margin of victory. Their efforts ensured a dominant 17-point victory and a spot in the Semi-finals.

Dabang Delhi K.C.'s captain, Ashu Malik, quickly countered, keeping the scores tight in the early stages. The Pirates gained momentum, with Sachin leading a successful raid that resulted in a Dabang Delhi K.C. ALL OUT, adding four points to their tally.

Ashu Malik showcased his skill by achieving a SUPER 10 and executing a SUPER RAID, marking his second four-point move within the first 20 minutes. Yogesh's tackle on Manjeet during the next raid resulted in the Patna Pirates being ALL OUT, concluding a highly competitive first half. Dabang Delhi K.C. managed a SUPER TACKLE to edge ahead by one point as the match headed into halftime.

The second half saw Ashu Malik initiating with another SUPER RAID, as Dabang Delhi K.C. aimed to extend their lead. However, the Patna Pirates, with Manjeet supporting his captain, fought back to level the score with 10 minutes remaining. The game continued to see-saw, with the lead changing hands in the dying minutes.

Ultimately, the Patna Pirates emerged victorious in this closely fought battle. Despite two consecutive SUPER TACKLES from Ashu Malik's team appearing to secure their win, a crucial raid by Sachin resulted in an ALL OUT for Dabang Delhi K.C. Manjeet's raid in the match's final moments clinched the Pirates' victory, ensuring their spot in the first Semi-final against the Puneri Paltan.
