The Queen of Gymnastics Simon Biles has another accolade to her hat, she have won her fourth Laureus Sportswoman of the Year award this year. Fresh off a phenomenal return to the international stage at the Paris Olympics, where she captured three gold medals and a silver, Biles proved once again why she’s considered untouchable in her sport.

Overcoming a Star-Studded List of Nominees

Biles was truly up against fierce competition for this award, with the likes of Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who just recently snagged her fourth-consecutive Olympic gold, and Julien Alfred, who made history by being the first female Olympic gold medalist from St. Lucia, vying for the same award alongside Biles.

Besides the Olympic heroes mentioned above, the name-list included several top athletes, such as the fantastic Aitana Bonmatí, Aryna Sabalenka, Sifan Hassan, and Faith Kipyegon, all capable of quite an impact in the sport. But Biles did not leave anybody guessing at that point-she was in a league of her own by quite a distance.

Tying with Serena Williams in Laureus History

At the age of 28, Biles has now gained entry alongside Serena Williams among the few and only female athletes to have won the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year title four times—winner previously in 2017, 2019, and 2025. She's also the only gymnast ever to have received the honor.

And her achievements are not just in sports, as Biles, while making a return for 2024 for Forbes' Richest Female Athletes list, estimated at dollars 11.2 million annual earnings, certainly boasts more stars to his credits now.

Biles Reflects on Her Journey and Laureus Legacy

Receiving the award in Madrid, Biles expressed her gratitude:

“I’m so happy to be here in Madrid and to receive my fourth Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year Award."

“I won this Award for the first time in 2017 and Laureus has been a part of my story since then, and I share their belief that sport has the power to change the world. That might be a little girl watching someone like me on television and deciding she can do it, too. Or it could be the incredible work Laureus Sport for Good has undertaken for the past 25 years, all over the world.”

“I’d like to thank the legendary members of the Laureus World Sports Academy, who vote for the winners. It must be an almost impossible job, but their unique personal experiences of sport at the highest level gives them an understanding of what it takes to be the very best. Their generation has inspired us athletes standing here before you. That is why the Laureus Awards truly are the ‘Athletes Awards’ and I am proud to have added to my ‘Laureus’ collection.”
