FC Barcelona is going through major changes in the squad just ahead of the upcoming club football season. The La Liga side is advancing talks with Saudi club Al-Hilal over a permanent transfer for Portuguese full-back Joao Cancelo, with the deal expected to be completed soon.

Cancelo, who only wants to return to Camp Nou, remains the subject of active negotiations. Although the move was not finalized in July despite earlier reports, sources indicate it is now viewed as a matter of time. According to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish giants “remain in active talks” and it seems to be just a “matter of time.”
The 32-year-old defender previously shone during loan spells at Barcelona, helping the team secure a La Liga title with his attacking contributions from the right flank and defensive versatility. Under manager Hansi Flick, the club is looking to reinforce the squad with experienced options as the new season progresses.
A permanent agreement would reunite Cancelo with the Blaugrana on a longer-term basis after his time in Saudi Arabia. Further updates on the financial details and contract length are anticipated in the coming days.
