After facing a scary stalking episode in Dubai, British Tennis player Emma Raducanu is set to return to the court. The former US Open winner will play at the Indian Wells tournament which is scheduled to start on March 5.
Emma Raducanu, 22, has been offered additional security for an upcoming event in California following a disturbing stalking incident. The perpetrator, who had been tracking Raducanu across four countries over the past month, approached her in Dubai, prompting her to report the incident to tournament officials.
Raducanu was visibly shaken when the stalker appeared at her second-round match, bursting into tears. The individual was promptly removed from the arena and taken into custody by local authorities. Raducanu later dropped the charges after the stalker agreed to a restraining order, requiring him to stay away from her.
Raducanu flew home to London but has elected to return to the grind of the tour with one of the most prestigious events on the schedule.
Her global rating of No. 55 qualifies her for straight entry into the main draw, which begins on Wednesday, March 5.
As her quest for a new coach continues, she is joined by Tom Welsh, a former hitting partner of Leylah Fernandez, whom Raducanu defeated to win the 2021 US Open, and a coach at the Loughborough Tennis Academy.
