Mirra Andreeva becomes third youngest women's Grand Slam champion; who are other two?
The eighth-seeded Andreeva, just 19 years old, dominated the match in straight sets on Court Philippe-Chatrier, needing only one hour and 22 minutes to secure the victory. This marks her first major title and cements her status as one of the brightest young stars in tennis.
Following the victory, Andreeva has now become the youngest women's champion at the French Open since Monica Seles in 1992. At 19 years old, the teenage sensation becomes the third-youngest woman to win a Grand Slam title since 2000.
Andreeva trails only Maria Sharapova, who claimed Wimbledon in 2004 at 17 years old, and Emma Raducanu, who triumphed at the 2021 US Open at 18 years and 302 days. Other notable young winners in this period include Iga Świątek, who lifted the Roland Garros trophy in 2020 at age 19, and Coco Gauff, who won the 2023 US Open at 19 years and 180 days.
