Novak Djokovic’s quest for a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title is still alive as the Serbian defeated Jannik Sinner in a five-set thriller. The 38-year-old tennis legend is aiming to win his 11th Australian Open title as he faces World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the battle for the title. 

History is on the line if either of the two wins the final. If Djokovic wins, he will become the oldest player to win the title in Melbourne Park. On the other hand, if the Spaniard claims the title, he will become the youngest player to complete a career slam. Meanwhile, a throwback to when Djokovic paid tribute to late Kobe Bryant after winning a record-equalling 24 majors in US Open.

Djokovic defeated Daniil Medvedev in straight sets with a score of (6-3, 7-6, 6-3) as he levelled Margaret Court’s 50-year record. The 24-time major champion immediately revealed a t-shirt in tribute to the legendary basketball player Kobe Bryant, who lost his life in a helicopter crash in 2020. 

The legendary tennis player stated Kobe as a “close friend” of his and revealed the two often talked about the “winner’s mentality.” Djokovic also revealed he got a lot of counsel and advice while the Serb was struggling with injuries.
