Sky Sport reported that medical checks confirmed no significant muscle lesion following the hip problem that forced Berrettini to retire during his quarterfinal match at the 2026 French Open against compatriot Matteo Arnaldi.

The 30-year-old, a 2021 Wimbledon finalist and one of the game’s most dangerous grass-court players, has battled persistent fitness issues in recent seasons. His deep run to the Roland Garros quarterfinals marked a promising return to form, but the injury interruption raised immediate concerns about his grass-court preparations, with Wimbledon scheduled to begin on June 29.

Berrettini’s powerful serve and one-handed backhand have historically thrived on the lawns of the All England Club. Despite his injury history, which has caused him to miss multiple Grand Slams in recent years, today’s clearance offers hope for a strong showing in London.

Meanwhile, Italian fans reacted with relief and optimism on social media, though some expressed caution given Berrettini’s track record. The big-serving right-hander will now focus on building match sharpness ahead of the third Grand Slam of the season.
