The Miz recently dropped an impressive fact about his rivalry with John Cena. The two stars fought each other on multiple occasions and were part of several memorable moments.
The Miz locked horns with The Cenation Leader in a singles fight for the very first time in a Dark Match on May 25, 2009. Their first televised match was a month later at WWE Bash, which Cena won in just six minutes.
Today, The Miz took to X (FKA Twitter) to share a video highlighting his growth during his early days in WWE. In the caption, the 45-year old noted the fact that nearly two years after suffering defeat against John Cena in less than six minutes, he defeated the latter in a WrestlMania main event.
"My first match w/ John Cena lasted 6 minutes. I was told I wasn’t ready. So I made a promise—never again. Two years later, I main-evented WrestleMania and beat him. Hard work > hype. #MizVsCena," The Miz wrote.
The Miz cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to win his first WWE Champion on the November 22 edition of Monday Night RAW. He pinned Randy Orton following The Viper's successful title defense against Wade Barrett.
In his first WrestleMania main event, The Miz put the title on the line against John Cena in no disqualification fight. Although the A-lister retained the gold at The Show of Shows, he lost it to Cena the very next month at WWE Extreme Rules in a Triple Threat Steel Cage fight that also featured John Morrison.
