Punjab Kings' star opener Priyansh Arya was on fire in their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which is being played on Saturday, April 11 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. 

Big feat fo Priyansh Arya

While chasing a target of 220, the star left-handed opener stitched an outstanding opening partnership of 99 runs with Prabhsimran Singh. Arya smashed 57 runs off 20 balls, reaching his half-century in just 16 deliveries. With this, he became the second fastest Punjab Kings batter to score a fifty in IPL.

The record of scoring the fastest half-century in IPL by a PBKS batter belongs to KL Rahul. Rahul reached the fifty-run mark in just 14 balls in a clash against Delhi Capitals which was played in Mohali on April 8 in IPL 2018.

Mayhem from SRH openers in first innings

Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first. Opening the innings for SRH, Abhishek Sharma went berserk, stitching a 120-run stand in just 49 balls with Travis Head, who scored 38 off 23 balls, including five fours and a six.

SRH post third-highest powerplay score in IPL history

The duo's relentless assault saw them target every corner of the ground, sparing no bowler in their pursuit of a dominant start. By the end of the first six overs, SRH had posted a staggering 105/0, marking the highest powerplay total of the current season. This explosive performance also saw them equal a historic milestone, tying with Kolkata Knight Riders' 2017 record against RCB for the joint-third highest powerplay score in tournament history.

Punjab Kings' strong start

At the time of writing, Punjab Kings have reached 179/3 with five overs to go. With Shreyas Iyer unbeaten on 53 and Nehal Wadhera on 14 off 13, PBKS appear to be in the driving seat in the chase of 220.
