With this David became the second fastest batter to score 1000 runs in IPL

During the IPL 2026 clash between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 18, Tim David grabbed a sensational milestone. As the RCB innings unfolded after they were put in to bat, Australian all-rounder etched his name into the record books by becoming the second fastest batter to reach 1,000 runs in IPL.

Tim David notches '1000-run' milestone in IPL

David is trailing only former Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Andre Russell. While Russell reached the 1,000-run mark in 545 deliveries, David accomplished it in 560. His teammate, Phil Salt, also holds a notable position on this list, ranking fourth with 575 balls faced to reach the same milestone.

The afternoon proved challenging for the home side, who suffered an early setback with the loss of Virat Kohli within the powerplay. DC's bowling attack maintained consistent pressure throughout, taking wickets at regular intervals to stifle the scoring rate. Aside from Phil Salt, who anchored the innings with a spirited 63 off 38 balls, the remaining batters struggled to negotiate the tight spin bowling of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel.

Batters with fastest 1000 runs in IPL:

Andre Russell— 545 balls
Tim David— 560 balls
Travis Head— 575
Phil Salt— 575
Heinrich Klassen— 594
Virender Sehwag— 604
Glenn Maxwell— 610

Tim David’s contribution was impactful yet short-lived; he stepped in to provide a brief surge, scoring 26 runs off 17 balls with three boundaries and a six. Despite the pressure from the Delhi bowlers—who saw Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Lungi Ngidi claim two wickets each, RCB managed to post a competitive total of 175/8 by the end of their 20 overs.
