Story Highlights:

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scripted a mighty milestone in the IPL 2026 clash against LSG

Sooryavanshi became the fastest batter to score 500 runs in IPL, in terms of balls faced

Rajasthan Royals' (RR) 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi etched his name into the history books this Wednesday during the IPL 2026 encounter against the Lucknow Super Giants. By hitting a boundary off Prince Yadav in the second over, he became the fastest player in tournament history to reach the 500-run milestone in terms of balls faced. Sooryavanshi achieved the feat in just 227 balls, comfortably dethroning Glenn Maxwell, who previously held the record by reaching the mark in 260 deliveries. In doing so, he also became the youngest player to ever amass 500 IPL runs.

Record-breaking milestone for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Despite the historic start, the young prodigy could not capitalize on his momentum for a massive score. He was dismissed by Mohsin Khan for 8 runs off 11 balls, leaving the Royals facing early pressure in their innings.

Both teams entered this contest facing distinct challenges. While Rajasthan Royals enjoyed a flying start to their 2026 campaign with four consecutive victories, they have recently hit a rough patch with back-to-back defeats. LSG are finding themselves in even more precarious territory, currently nursing a three-match losing streak. The stakes are particularly high for both sides, as LSG continue to hunt for their first home win of the season, while the Royals are striving to break a winless streak in their away fixtures.

RR's batting collapse

Talking about the match, RR suffered a massive batting collapse after losing Yashasvi Jaiswal at 22. Jaiswal's wicket was followed by Dhruv Jurel (0) and Sooryavanshi. Riyan Parag, Shimron Hitmyer and Donovan Ferreira too returned to the hut without doing much, which left RR reeling at 110/6 at the end of 16.5 overs.
