Mumbai Indians’ (MI) batting all-rounder Naman Dhir went absolutely ballistic in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026 match for Amritsar Soormas against Mohali Kings on September 8. At Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, he wreaked havoc with 12 sixes and 16 fours in his 173-run knock from just 64 deliveries.
Dhir has made a case to bat higher up the order for MI in the next Indian Premier League (IPL) season. After Mohali Kings captain Ramandeep Singh won the toss and opted to bowl first, Dhir walked out to open instead of Abhishek Sharma. He faced three dot deliveries in the first over and then got off the mark. He made up for it with a couple of sixes in the next over where Sahaj Dhawan fell to Ayush Goyal. Rahul Kumar was dismissed cheaply as well but it did not stop Dhir to finish the powerplay overs with 53 runs from 19 deliveries.
In the 12th over, he launched a brutal onslaught against Lovedeep Chatha, the same bowler who bowled three consecutive dot deliveries to him upfront. Dhir hit him for two fours and three consecutive sixes. Chatha erred with a no-ball as well and conceded 30 runs in the over. Dhir reached his ton with a six off just 38 balls.

Dhir races to 150, Soormas post huge score
In the next over, Abhishek joined Dhir in the middle as Jashanpreet Singh fell to Harpreet Brar for a 25-ball 41. Abhishek hit two sixes before falling to Tejpreet Singh. In the same over, Tejpreet conceded three sixes including two off Dhir's bat. In the 16th over, Dhir hit Brar for two sixes to Dhir to complete his 150 from 54 balls.
Abhay Choudhary contributed with a 10-ball 20. Dhir's splendid knock came to an end on the fourth ball of the final over. His carnage-filled knock helped Amritsar Soormas to post a total of 279/7 despite Goyal's four-fer. While Sher-e-Punjab T20 records are not added in T20s, he missed out on surpassing West Indies legend Chris Gayle's record of 175.
